Fashion: Patterned & Colored Tights

Now that it's getting colder out I've had to be more creative on how I can still wear my skirts, shorts and dresses into the fall and winter seasons. Colored and patterned tights are back again and I couldn't be more excited. My mom bought me a pair of purple ones last year that I love to wear. I also purchased a pair of black polka dot ones that are perfect with my black shorts. I feel sassy when I wear them. It's time to stock up on some more pairs for this season.

1. H&M Cable-knit tights- $9.95
2. H&M 80 Denier Tights - $5.95
3. Nordstrom 'Best Present' Tights - $15
4. Frenchi® 'Dot' Tights - $14
5. Urban Outfitters Embellished Jewel Tight - $18 or 2 for $20
6. Forever 21 20 Denier Floral Tights - $6.80
7. DKNY Pinstripe Lace Tights - $20
9. Pretty Polly Suspender Tights - $25
10. Kensie Crazy Crisscross Tights - $22

What do you think of this trend? Do you own any patterned or colored tights?

Simple Apple Cobbler Recipe

I picked up this bag of apples at Trader Joe’s since they looked so lovely and were super cheap.

The problem is that I can’t possibly eat that entire bag, so I decided I needed to make a dessert to help me run through the supply. I decided on apple cobbler because it’s really easy to make, it’s delicious and it couldn’t be more perfect for fall.

Here’s how to make it:

Wash a few apples. I used five small- to medium-sized apples. Peel and core the apples, then slice the wedges into thin slices.

Throw the apples into a small saucepan. Add a small tab butter and two tablespoons of water to the apples and begin heating over low to medium heat. Stir so that the melted butter and water coat the apples.

Add cinnamon and sugar to your apples. The amount you add is entirely up to you—it really depends on how sweet you want your cobbler to be. I used slightly less than one tablespoon of sugar and almost the same amount of cinnamon.

While the apples are cooking, prepare your granola. It turns out that I didn’t have granola in the house, so I had to improvise. I used my Kashi cereal. If I would have had it in the house, I would have used my Bear Naked Granola. I poured some onto a paper towel, folded it over and used a spoon to crush the large pieces. I then set that aside and got back to the apples.

I let the apples cook for about eight minutes. You could cook them for longer, but I prefer the apples to have a little firmness to them as opposed to falling apart.

Once you’re finished cooking the apples, transfer them to a heat-safe container and top it with the granola. At this point you could even put the cobbler into fancy dessert dishes and serve them.

Delicious! I opted to have my cobbler with a glass of skim milk—comfort food doesn’t get any better.

What are some of your favorite desserts for fall?

Fashion: Crossbody Bags

I don't discriminate when it comes to a great purse but I have to say that I tend to gravitate towards crossbody bags more than any other type of bag. They are comfortable, stylish and come in a variety of sizes, colors and designs. I don't like to fuss with a purse (especially when I'm out shopping) and think these are the perfect alternative. Here are some of my favorites that I've been eying this season:

Transitioning Your Wardrobe to Fall

I know I've mentioned it before, but I'm sad to see summer go. I'm never a fan of packing away my summer clothes, so one thing I try to do is pick a few of my favorite items and figure out ways that I can continue wearing them through fall.

If you need ideas on how to wear some of your summer wardrobe during the fall, check out these inspiration pictures:

I wrote about my love for brightly colored pants here. Why stash them away during fall? Add a blazer and some neutral toned flats and you've got yourself a perfectly darling outfit that will keep you warm as the temps get chilly.

There's never a need to pack away your tank tops. You can use tank tops to layer under sweaters or long sleeve shirts for added warmth, or you could make the tank top the focal point of your outfit by wearing it with a cardigan.

Just add a scarf and boots. Go ahead and wear your skinny jeans and sleeveless shirts. When you add a pair of tall boots and a scarf, it instantly transforms your outfit and makes it scream fall.

Don't be afraid to wear your summer dresses -- just be sure to throw on a light coat like this trench.

Fall 2012 Makeup Trends

New seasons always bring new colors and trends, and this fall is no exception. You’ve heard us talk about fall color trends for nails and clothes, but what about makeup? Try out some of these makeup colors and looks to help welcome fall:

Black Cherry Lips
As we transition to fall, the bright pink lips go away and the berry tones are very in. Try out a black cherry lipstick or stain like this one:

Kate Bosworth in black cherry lips. Our Matte Lipstick in 'Moscow' would create this look.

Smoky Brown Eyes
This sophisticated look using several shades of brown embodies fall -- and it's perfect for day or night.

Cobalt Blue Eyeshadow and/or Liner
This might be an extreme example of cobalt blue liner, but how pretty is this color? If you're wearing more muted tones for fall, try this liner or shadow for an unexpected punch of color.

Black Eyeshadow
You can never go wrong with black, right? This fall, try out a very muted and soft black.

Green and Gold Eyeshadow Combo
Green is always in for fall, but pairing it with gold this season will take your look to the next level. Gold shadow will brighten up your entire makeup look.

Pink Cheeks
As temperatures drop and cooler weather blows in, mimic the lovely pink hue cheeks get by using a soft pink blush on your cheeks. It will give you a natural-looking, healthy glow.

Beauty: Fall Nail Colors

{via}
Another thing I really love about fall is dark nail polish colors. I’ve been rocking Lincoln Park After Dark by O.P.I for a few years now and it’s safe to say I have an addiction. I love how it looks black yet is a very dark purple. It may seem severe to some – but I think with some boots, a scarf, leggings and an oversized sweater it’s perfect.

Can’t commit to something that drastic yet? Here are a few more fall tones that I’m loving for this season.

Fashion: Fall Boots

It's no secret I adore fall. The crisp air, changing colors, pumpkins and of course the fashion. I have an obsession with boots. Tall, short, heeled, flat and in every single color possible. It's a serious weakness of mine and I've already warned Jay that I have a serious thing for boots. If I could wear them all year round I would. They really complete the looks I love and I can't wait until it's time to wear them again. Sorry for all you summer lovers out there - this girl lovessss fall.

Here are some of my favorites for this fall season. It's pure torture to show these to you and NOT buy any. Must. Not. Shop!

Cole Haan 'Tennley' Boot
Enzo Angiolini 'Saylem' Riding Boot
rag & bone 'Pearce' Over the Knee Boot
Steve Madden 'Bankker' Boot
Steve Madden 'Judgemnt' Boot
Alice + Olivia 'Ladee' Boot
Jimmy Choo Motorcycle Boot

What do you think of these picks? Are there any boots you've seen for next season that you can't wait to buy?
